What is SSL?
Budoten uses a secure transmission protocoll, the so called "secure socket layer" (ssl) transmission, to process your personal data. All data will be encrypted by this method before sending them via the internet.
SSL (secure sockets layer) is an open standard from netscape for secure data transfer in the internet. By aid of ssl all security-relevant data such as your personal data, your bank accout, credit card etc. will be encrypted in such a way that they cannot be read during transmission via the internet by unauthorized persons.
You don't need any special software, but rather your internet browser (e.g. Microsoft Internet Explorer from Version 2.1 on or Firefox 2.0 and higher). You may revognize the encryption at the internet-address which will start with "https" (e.g. https://www.budoten.com). Furthermore in your browser window will appear a lock symbol. When you click on the lock you will receive more information on the used key. We use a key with RSA 1024 bit to make shopping completely safe.
With some internet-service providers you will encounter problems when using SSL. In such cases please refer to your customer support or use our standard-server. If you use our standard-server, your data will not be encrypted.
Known Problems with SSL
SSL-Problems by usage of a firewall: The ssl protocol is not supported by the firewall of some companies. If you problems to connect via ssl, please contact the internet administrator of your company to check whether the firewall supports ssl or not.
SSL-Problems of Opera 6.0: The version 6.0 has problems in combination with the http-authentication and ssl. After the login mainly nothing works anymore and the user will see only a blank page. If this should be the case, please login via an unencrypted connection or use an other Opera version - e.g. with Opera 5.12 the ssl connection works without any known problems.
SSL-Problems of Internet Explorer: If there are any problems with the ssl connection, please check if TLS 1.0 is used by your browser. Open "options" > "internet options" > "extras". The Option "TLS 1.0" should not be cheched.
